Last weekend we visited mountain Kopaonik, major ski resort in Serbia. Around that we enjoyed in hospitality of Kraljevi Čardaci Spa hotel, we used the opportunity to take a walk on their beautiful paths in the area with exciting views to Kopaonik slopes, mountain Golija, Kosovo and mountains of Montenegro.
Kopaonik, also known as “Silver mountain” or “Sunny mountain” is the largest and longest mountain range in Serbia (120 km). Snow exists between November and May, while there are 200 sun days. Its highest point, Pančić’s Peak, is 2,017 m (6,617 ft) above sea level. Kopaonik is a major ski resort in Serbia, and after Bulgaria’s Bansko, the largest in Southeast Europe. There are 25 ski lifts with capacity of 32,000 skiers per hour. A national park spread over 118.1 km2 (45.6 sq mi) of the central part of the Kopaonik plateau was established in 1981.
The exceptional natural features, elevation, a large number of sunny days, preserved flora and fauna make this mountain suitable for all kind of outdoor active holidays: hiking, trekking, trail running and mountain biking.
